TEMPO LENTO

In questa Mostra Rosalba Trentini interpreta il tema del tempo e del lavoro con un incrocio di generazioni che lavorano, coltivano, tessono creando un inatteso scambio di sguardi tra canape bianche e lavori che ritornano.

Il tempo lento è innanzitutto quello interiore, della memoria. Donne, oggi novantenni, che ricordano chi prima di loro, tra la fine Ottocento e Novecento, lavorava la canapa. 

Memorie che si sono sedimentate e riprese dalle nuove generazioni che emigrano in Centro America come cooperanti. Giovani donne che tornano a fare il lavoro 'antico' dei nonni. Un intreccio non casuale, un ricorso storico che riflette un cambiamento di rotta, un ritorno al bisogno di occuparci della terra con mani ‘intelligenti’ e gravide dell'esperienza e sentimenti di chi ci ha preceduti.

In mostra troviamo gli ultimi lavori di Rosalba Trentini. L’installazione dal titolo ‘Analogie’è un esempio di operosità e tempo donato all’altro che tiene insieme le lenzuola di canapa, lavorate dalla bisnonna, e il lavoro della nipote, la giovane cooperante del ritratto. 

“La forma concava del ritratto si completa con quella convessa del ‘prete’. Si rispecchiano e si richiamano. A distanza di generazioni, la ragazza di oggi mentre lavora in Centro America su due progetti, agricoltura sostenibile e aiuti alle donne, viene colta nello specchietto retrovisore mentre guida un camioncino”.

Non lo sa, ma è collegata intimamente al lavoro del nonno. Una cosa quasi magica. Nel dittico‘Momenti’  troviamo infatti il nonno, allora ragazzo, che trasportava legname, sementi e carbone alle popolazioni di allora. 

“Le terze generazioni fanno le cose che i loro bisavoli facevano… forse c’è un perché, forse è un recupero”.

Per l’artista tutto questo racchiude la bellezza di un’operosità silenziosa, lenta, faticosa a cui l’arte oggi sente il compito di rendere onore. E’ forte l’interesse per le storie delle persone che hanno coltivato, tessuto e cucito questi lini. Persone sconosciute e dimenticate. 

“Entrare dentro un concetto di tempo difficile oggi da praticare, fatto di lentezza, piacere nel fare, passione ma anche fatica. Un tempo donato. Perché per fare le cose a mano devi prenderti il tempo”. 

Il passato ritorna spinto dalla necessità di proseguire, andare oltre un destino già compiuto. La funzione dell’arte per Rosalba Trentini non si compie solo nel ricordare ma si fa atto interpretativo-creativo capace di dare 'nuova vita’ a ciò che è stato e lenirne anche il dolore.

SLOW TIME

In this exhibition Rosalba Trentini interprets the themes of time and work with a crossroads of generations that work, cultivate and weave, creating an unexpected exchange of glances between white hemp and jobs that never evanesce. 

The « slow time » is first of all the inner time of memory. Women, now ninety years old, who remember who worked hemp before them, between the end of the nineteenth century and the twentieth century.

Memories that have settled and taken up by the new generations who emigrate to Central America as humanitarian workers. Young women returning to do their grandparents' old job. A non-random plot, a historical appeal that reflects a change of course, a return to the need to take care of the earth with "intelligent" and experienced hands, full of feelings of those who preceded us.

On display we can see the latest works by Rosalba Trentini. The installation entitled "Analogie" is an example of industriousness and time given to the other that holds together the sheets of hemp, worked by the great-grandmother, and the work of the niece, the young NGO worker of the portrait.

"The concave shape of the portrait is completed with the convex one of the" priest ". They mirror and refer to each other. A distance of generations, the girl of today while working in Central America on two projects, sustainable agriculture and aid for women, is caught in the rear-view mirror while driving a pickup truck ”.

She does not know, but her job is intimately connected to her grandfather's work. Something almost magical. In the diptych "Momenti" we find the grandfather, then a boy, who transported wood, seeds and coal to the populations of that time.

"Third generations do the things that their great people did ... maybe there's a reason, maybe it's a recovery".

For the artist, all this encompasses the beauty of a silent, slow, laborious activity to which art today feels the task of honoring. There is a strong interest in the stories of the people who have cultivated, woven and sewn these linens. Unknown and forgotten people.

"Getting into a concept of time difficult to understand today, made of slowness, pleasure in doing, passion but also effort. A donated time. Because doing things by hand takes time".

The past returns driven by the need to continue, to go beyond a destiny already accomplished. The function of art for Rosalba Trentini is not only remembering ; it becomes an interpretative-creative act capable of giving 'new life' to what has been and also alleviating pain.
